Variables length - bytecode

If the AS3 compiler in Flash CS3/Flex compiles to bytecode, then it doesnt matter how long your variable names or function names are does it?

Presumably, they will be assigned a numeric instance in the compiled swf and your variable names can be as long as they need to be to adequately describe…
